Bike/Walk Central Florida is hosting its 7th annual BIKE 5 this year on Saturday, October 14, 2023. The annual biking event is possible thanks to our sponsors and partnerships with the cities of Orlando, Winter Park, Maitland, Casselberry, the town of Eatonville, and Seminole County!
What is BIKE 5?
It started as Bike 5 Cities, a 28-mile bike ride to show people where they can comfortably ride through neighborhoods in Winter Park, Eatonville, Maitland, Casselberry, and Orlando. It has evolved into a series of rides to show people of all ages and abilities where to ride comfortably.
BIKE 5 | 5 Mile, 5 Parks, 5 Cities
Bike 5 Miles - a Family Friendly Guided Group ride
Bike 5 Miles is the family-friendly ride that people of all ages and abilities will enjoy. Join Bike/Walk staff and volunteers for a proper helmet fitting, safety chat, and practice some bike skills before the ride. This family-friendly ride will be guided by Ride Leaders from Ward Park on a 5-mile route through Baldwin Park and back to Winter Park.
BIKE 5 Parks - an 11-mile Guided Group ride
Bike 5 Parks is a new route this year designed for those who are not quite ready for a 30-mile ride, but want to dust off their bike and sharpen their cycling skills. This casual group ride starts and finishes near Ward Park at the Cady Way Pool trailhead. You will ride by 5+ parks including: Ward Park, Veteran's Memorial Park, Lake Baldwin Park, Harbor Park, and Lake Druid Park.
Bike 5 Cities - a 30-mile ride
Bike 5 Cities is a 30-mile route through Winter Park, Eatonville, Maitland, Casselberry and Orlando. There are 2 different ride options:
1) Guided Group Ride with a ride leader or 2) Self-guided Ride - ride on your own

About: Bike 5 Cities is a 30-mile regional bike-ride that advances equity through better transportation options; improves safety by teaching people of all abilities and ages how to use routes safely; enhances local economies by bringing bike “traffic” to businesses; and builds public support for connecting bike routes throughout Central Florida.
The newly named, BIKE 5 event is unique and offers several ride options this year! For the original Bike 5 Cities, 30-mile ride you can choose to ride in a Guided Group ride or the Self-guided, ride on your own option. Each Guided Group will be have an experienced ride leader and a sweep in the back. These Guided groups will leave in waves (A, B, or C) based on participants chosen level/speed. For the Self-guided, ride on your own option, you may start in any of the 5 host city locations any time between 7:30-9:00am. Please note the Orlando location will start at 8:15am. This option is for those who want to participate and prefer avoiding riding in any size group. It’s also good for riders who want a faster pace or just prefer start, stop, and rest time flexibility.
Not quite ready for a 30-mile adventure? We have some shorter distance options, which will start and finish at Cady Way Pool. This year we’ve added an 11-mile ride, Bike 5 Parks, in addition to Bike 5 Miles, a family-friendly ride for participants of all ages, levels and abilities. Come experience the joys of riding a bike!
Who: Riders of any age, experience or ability level. It’s for those who like to take it slow while discovering where to comfortably ride their bikes — whether it’s through a neighborhood, down a local trail, or to a shop, restaurant and park in one of the five cities.
When and where: Saturday, October 14, 2023. Select your desired ride distance to register. Select your start city when registering for Bike 5 Cities, 30-mile ride.
This is a Rain or Shine event. No refunds or transfers.
The safety of our participants and volunteers is our most important concern and if any of the threatening weather conditions are present the day of the event (tornado warning, tornado watch, thunderstorm, heavy rain or a hurricane decides to visit), the event may be delayed or canceled.
When weather conditions or other physical conditions present a danger to participants, such conditions fall under the label “acts of mother nature,” it will not result in refunding of any event entry fees or future event credits, since funds were already spent in preparation for your event day.
Bike 5 Cities Needs You
Want to volunteer?
BIKE 5 will need plenty of volunteers leading up to and during the event! We need people to help organize registration materials, help mark the course, put up signage, event day check in, pass out shirts to riders, help direct riders to their group, let folks know where to start, and to be ride leaders or sweeps.
Be a Ride Leader!
Are you an experienced cyclist familiar with riding on Central Florida roads? Do you enjoy sharing your love of bicycling with others? Bike 5 needs you to help guide riders along the route for a worry-free ride. As a Ride Leader, you will help riders in the group maintain a safe and enjoyable pace.
Each Guided group will be accompanied by a volunteer Ride Leader and Sweep (that could be you!). Ride Leaders will preview the course with our ride leader coordinator before October 1st, to ensure they are familiar with the course. We are looking for Ride Leaders and Sweeps for all of our BIKE 5 events (30-mile, 11-mile, and 5-mile rides).
To volunteer as a Ride Leader, Sweep, or City support, please contact us at Bike5Cities@bikewalkcf.org
